Meghan wins bid to delay trial in newspaper privacy claim
The Duchess of Sussex has won her bid to have a privacy action against a tabloid newspaper delayed until next year.
Meghan Markle, 39, is suing Associated Newspapers and claims the publication of parts of a handwritten letter to Thomas Markle in the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline last year was a misuse of her private information and breached the Data Protection Act.
Last month a London court ruled that the Mail On Sunday could amend its case to include details from a recently published biography.
Judge Mark Warby said: “My conclusion is that the right decision in all the circumstances is to grant the application.
“That means the trial of 11 January 2021 will be vacated and the trial will be re-fixed for a new date in the autumn.”
